Poll: Who’s the best candidate to be next Chelsea manager?

Published:

Chelsea’s search for a long-term successor to Jose Mourinho continues with plenty of big names supposedly in line to be The Sacked One’s replacement.

The Mail are reporting this morning that Italy boss Antonio Conte is the club’s preferred option but is he the best candidate?

There’s no doubting the 46-year-old’s pedigree having guided Serie A giants Juventus to three league titles.

However, with the likes of 7/4 favourite Jorge Sampaoli, Tottenham gaffer Mauricio Pochettino and compatriot Massimiliano Allegri also in the frame it’s no guarantee that Conte will get the club gig he’s been hankering for.

Meanwhile, La Liga winner Diego Simeone and former Blues striker Mark Hughes have also emerged as viable options on an ever-increasing shortlist.

And although each individual’s respective merits are open to debate there’s no doubt the future Stamford Bridge incumbent faces a difficult task to reverse the club’s fortunes.

A disastrous campaign has seen the Premier League champions fall way short of their title rivals owing to a dramatic loss of form and rumours of squad unrest.

So, who’s the right man to help steer Chelsea back on the right track?
