POLL: Who is Chelsea’s biggest flop in Premier League history?

The Premier League has seen many a wondrous talent grace its shores, but sometimes a superstar who has hit the heights elsewhere just can’t cope when they take to these British Isles.
Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s going to Stoke on a wet, windy Tuesday, or maybe it’s just our food but for whatever reason, some of the biggest names in football have utterly flopped in English football.
The latest of which is Chelsea striker Falcao, with reports abound this week that the Colombian is set for a return to Monaco and an end his dismal spell in England.
Falcao wouldn’t be the first who hasn’t made the cut at Stamford Bridge however.
Another who struggled at Stamford Bridge was Andriy Shevchenko. Widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best striker in the world when he signed in west London in 2006, the Ukrainian netted just nine times in 48 Premier League appearances.
Adrian Mutu was one of the first big-name signings under the Abramovich era, but a bright start quickly faded into a lack of form, and then he didn’t get on with Jose Mourinho, and then he failed a drugs test.
Mateja Kezman can say he scored the winner in the 2005 League Cup Final against Liverpool, but that was just one of only seven goals he scored in Chelsea’s dominant 2004-05 campaign. The Serbian left after one season.
And then there’s Fernando Torres. The £50m man who had been mega at Liverpool. 20 goals in 110 Premier League appearances is a pretty reasonable guage of how successful the Spaniard was in a Blue shirt. Aside from a few European highlights, his domestic time at Chelsea was a disaster.
