Poll: Should Wenger, Pellegrini and LVG go if Leicester win the title?

Published:

All season critics have been suggesting that Leicester’s Premier League title bid will fade away, but with 15 matches left to play the Foxes continue to lead the way in the race for the trophy.

Managers of the ‘Big Four’ have all come in for criticism at some point in the season, with Chelsea swapping Mourinho for Hiddink and Louis van Gaal apparently on the brink.

But regardless of whether he sees the season out, LVG, alongside Arsene Wenger and Manuel Pellegrini should be given their P45s if Leicester go on to win the title, according to Adrian Durham.

The talkSPORT presenter spoke in his Daily Mail column of how the Foxes’ current position suggests that the trio should be “shame-faced already”.

“At Manchester City, Pellegrini looks like an amateur when you take his captain away from him… At United, Van Gaal has had football as a job for so long I wonder if he still enjoys it like he used to,” Durham wrote.

“Arsenal were gift-wrapped the top class keeper they’ve needed for years last summer, and should be romping this league given City’s defensive frailties. But the one thing stopping them – Arsene Wenger – has got it wrong again.

“If Leicester win the title, Arsene Wenger, Louis van Gaal and Manuel Pellegrini should all resign immediately and ask themselves if they’ve really got what it takes at the very top level right now.”

It’s been 21 years since anyone outside of the ‘Big Four’ took the title with Blackburn’s success in the third Premier League season, so a Leicester triumph would certainly change things up somewhat.

Claudio Ranieri’s team sit top of the pile, three points clear of their nearest pursuer yet are still fourth-favourites to be their come May.

The 9/1 shots even have Tottenham who are five points behind them shorter in the betting for a maiden Premier League crown.

A tricky run of fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal will be the making of the Foxes. Come out of them unscathed and they must be real contenders.

But what if they do go all the way and secure the fairytale win? Should the aforementioned trio fall on their swords as Durham has suggested? Vote now in today’s poll.
