Poll: How far will Andy Murray go in the Australian Open?

Andy Murray continued his effortless start to the 2016 Australian Open overnight with a second consecutive straight sets victory, this time over local star Samuel Groth.

Britain’s number one cruised to a 6-0, 6-4, 6-1 victory to follow up his 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the opening round.

A tougher test awaits in the third round in the shape of Portugal’s world number 33 Joao Sousa but with Murray leading the head-to-head 6-0, having dropped just one set against the 26-year-old, a safe passage through to the fourth round is largely expected for the Scot.

But how far can the two-time Slam winner, Olympic gold medallist and Davis Cup victor go from there?

With Novak Djokovic safely out of harm’s way until the final and Rafael Nadal already at home watching from his armchair can Murray finally add the Aussie Open title to his growing trophy cabinet?

The Scot has reached the final on four occasions in the last six years, making the semis and quarters in 2012 and 2014 respectively. On each occasion he has lost the final the trophy has been lifted by either Djokovic or Roger Federer and Murray is likely to have to beat either man to stand a chance.

As the 4/1 second favourite the betting suggests another final appearance is the least we can expect but will it be as plain sailing as the odds suggest?
