Palin alliance may give Trump exactly what he’s looking for

Donald Trump commanded America’s TV airwaves yet again this week, but for once it was the person stood next to him who received all the attention.

At Iowa State University this week – just two weeks before the state’s caucuses – Sarah Palin produced a rallying cry to declare her support for Donald Trump.

Palin’s support is the most high-profile for any Republican nominee thus far, and Trump’s odds for becoming Republican Presidential Candidate have stayed solid, moving from 6/4 to 11/8 favourite this week.

As for who becomes Vice President nominee for the Republicans, Palin’s return to the frontline has seen her odds more than halved from 25/1 last week to 12/1.

This week’s surprising alliance has had little impact on the former US Apprentice host’s odds of becoming President however, with the businessman remaining at 4/1, behind favourite Hillary Clinton at 5/6.

But these are odd times across the pond, and Ladbrokes are offering 50/1 that a Trump/Palin ticket wins the Presidential election.

Matthew Shaddick of Ladbrokes said: “We’re sweating on some huge payouts should Trump win this one, having offered 100/1 when he first declared. Trump/Palin might sound like a joke to some, but the bookies won’t be laughing if they make it to the White House.”

Trump’s rise to the forefront of contemporary politics has even made its impact felt in the UK, with parliament debating a ban for the 69-year-old, who is 3/1 to enter the United Kingdom this year.

But over in America, while Palin’s history of public endorsements isn’t great at around a 50-55 per cent success rate, she may have given ‘The Donald’ all that he was ever after – more publicity.

The odds suggest Palin’s impact has been minimal thus far, but the more people get talking about Donald Trump, the happier he will probably be.
