Liverpool favourites to sign wantaway Gary Cahill

Liverpool are favourites to sign Gary Cahill, with reports emerging that the defender is seeking first team football outside of Stamford Bridge.

The England international has started just 11 times in the Premier League this season, with Kurt Zouma and John Terry the preferred central pairing in west London.

With the 2016 European Championships just six months away however, Cahill – capped 40 times by England – is seeking regular action in a bid to boost his chances of making Roy Hodgson’s squad this summer.

A host of clubs are already linked with securing Cahill’s signature, and first up is Liverpool at 7/2 with Ladbrokes.

Having conceded 10 goals in their last four league games – including four away at Norwich – it’s clear Jurgen Klopp could do with some improvements at the back.

The Reds head the betting ahead of city rivals Everton and Manchester United, who are both 7/1 shots to sign the 30-year-old.

Stoke are priced at 8s to sign Cahill, with the Englishman’s former club Aston Villa at 10/1.

Also at 10s are Newcastle and Sunderland, considered outsiders with a host of clubs higher up the table also in the frame.

Highly regarded across the country, it seems Cahill won’t be short of offers should Chelsea agree to let him go.
