Ladbrokes League 2: Bottom club East Stirling capable of an upset

The Ladbrokes League 2 title race seems to see a new side take the initiative every other week, and with a full serving of fixtures in store, more change could be in the offing.

Two of those teams involved in the chase for the play-off places are Arbroath and Annan Athletic who could play out a high-goalscoring affair at Gayfield.

The Smokies have netted two or more in five of their last six league games, though it hasn’t necessarily been a barometer of their success.

Opponents Athletic have lost their last three games, but they too have scored twice in two of those fixtures, making it likely that the 13/20 available on there being over 2.5 goals when the sides meet in Angus.

League leaders Elgin have a great chance to pull away from the chasing pack when they host ninth-placed Berwick Rangers,

City have won four of their last five fixtures and haven’t conceded in three of their last four but do face a Berwick side that have picked up a couple of wins of late.

The home win looks a given, but with Rangers capable of finding the back of the net, the 3/4 on both teams scoring offers slightly better odds and might be a more attractive proposition.

Home comforts could tell at East Stirling as well as The Shire look to cause an upset against promotion-chasing East Fife.

With four wins in their last five in front of their own fans the league’s bottom side could smell blood against a Fife side that have conceded two or more in three of their last four away games.

In-form Clyde make the trip to a Montrose side that haven’t won since October and must be considered value even at odds-on.

The Bully Wee have won five of their last seven fixtures and can continue that fine run of form at Station Park.

And finally we look set for yet another low-scoring fixture involving Queen’s Park.

The Spiders’ 1-1 draw with Montrose took their run of fixtures going under 2.5 goals to seven straight games, something that is priced up at 8/11 to happen again.

They visit a Stirling Albion side that have lost three of their last four in all competitions, and are hard to fancy to get a result against their promotion-chasing visitors.
