Guidolin directs Swansea to move for Chievo hotshot

A 2-1 win at Everton last weekend may have been fortuitous, but nevertheless it was the winning start Francesco Guidolin was looking for to begin his Swansea reign.
The Welsh club aren’t out of the relegation woods yet however, with Ladbrokes 9/2 the Swans play Championship football next season.
The Liberty Stadium outfit have netted just eight times in their last 10 Premier League games, and Guidolin has his work cut out to aid his goal-shy squad before the transfer window slams shut in less than a week’s time.
One man the Italian has his eye on is a familiar face from their time together at Parma and that’s Chievo forward Alberto Paloschi.
Reports have emerged this week linking Swansea with a £10m bid for the 26-year-old, made up of an £8m fee and £2m in add-ons.
Paloschi spent three years at Parma from 2008-2011, with the first two of those years under Guidolin’s leadership.
The Italian scored 12 goals in the 2008-2009 season as Guidolin’s Parma secured promotion to Serie A, and he was a part of the side which secured an impressive eighth-place finish in the following campaign.
Chievo’s number 43 has netted eight times in 21 Serie A appearances this term, as his side currently hold a steady 10th in the table.
Atalanta are also rumoured to be in the hunt for Paloschi’s signature, but a bid totalling £8m has apparently failed to find favour with the Verona-based side.
Having sold Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle for £12m, funds are at Guidolin’s disposal, and with his side posting a very reasonable four clean sheets in the last 10 games – more than Man City – it seems pretty clear reinforcements are required at the offensive end of the Liberty Stadium.
