Firmino the man of the moment with his Liverpool wonder goal

It might have been a red letter week for top quality action, but Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino delivered the best piece of football in the last two days.

We asked you to pick out your favourite goal from the midweek offering and the Brazilian’s effort was a comprehensive winner.

The former Hoffenheim man picked up a whopping 57 per cent of the vote for his second goal of the game for Liverpool against Arsenal.

For those who missed it, you can see the strike in all its glory here…

It was only the third time Firmino had found the back of the net in 27 appearances since arriving in the summer, with his second coming just nine minutes earlier and he looks to be cementing a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI at Anfield.

The nearest challenger to the forward, though not a particularly near one, was Norwich’s Jonny Howson with 13 per cent.

His thunderbolt of a strike was a rare bright moment for Canaries fans in an otherwise disappointing night as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Stoke City.

West Ham’s Enner Valencia won the battle with his team-mate Dimitri Payet in the battle for the bronze medal as he picked up nine per cent of the vote for his Ronaldo-esque free-kick in the Hammers’ victory over Bournemouth.

Payet, along with Wayne Rooney and Olivier Giroud actually achieved the fewest number of votes, each with seven per cent.

Their strikes may well have been things of beauty, but according to the readers of Ladbrokes News, they weren’t a patch on Firmino’s effort.
