Chelsea defender should lead English exodus abroad

Gary Cahill is rumoured to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge as he looks to gain more first-team football in order to secure his place in the England team at Euro 2016.
The 30-year-old defender has only started five games in the past two months and this is lack of football is sure to effect his chance of making the plane to France.
A January move to a club where he is likely to get more playing time would boost his Three Lions chances and a number of Premier League clubs are said to be interested.
Liverpool are rumoured to be leading the way in securing Cahill’s signature, but the former Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers man should look to a more unconventional route.
Roma are believed to be interested in bringing in the centre-back and a move to Serie A could be just what he and the England setup needs.
The current crop of players Roy Hodgson has to call on has a severe lack of playing experience outside of the Premier League and this could hurt the nation’s chances in major tournaments.
Indeed, ever since Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup, where the Owen Hargreaves and David Beckham were not based domestically, only one member of an England squad hasn’t played in their homeland.
Fraser Forster is the only player to not be playing in England to be picked in any of the last three Three Lions’ squad and he only reached as far as Scotland.
No team this millennium has won an international tournament with an entirely domestic squad and this should serve as an indicator to what is going wrong on these shores.
If Cahill were to leave to play in Italy, he would learn a new style of football that would advance his game and it would serve as an indicator for others to follow suit.
This in turn would broaden the level of knowledge in the England squad and advance their understanding of the game.
