Arsenal on alert after door opens for Bundesliga star

Arsenal have already snapped up Mohamed Elneny in this transfer window, but comments from Borussia Monchengladbach this week may mean the Gunners dip back in for more.
The Bundesliga side have stated that they would be willing to listen to offers for midfield star Granit Xhaka – should any fee offered be deemed reasonable.
Speaking to WDR 2 Radio, ‘Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl said: “It depends a bit on our own sporting success, it depends on Granit’s own performances and of course it depends on the figures.
“If they reach a certain level, then you could start to get dizzy. There are always situations in which every club would have to make considerations,” Eberl added.
The Gunners are reported to have been long-time admirers of the 23-year-old, who has been compared to Bastian Schweinsteiger in the past.
Xhaka has been a near ever-present for his current employers this term, who sit an impressive fourth in the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich are also rumoured to be chasing the Swiss star’s signature, who began his career in his home country with Basel.
Two Swiss Super League titles in his first two seasons saw Xhaka become familiar with the Champions League, taking on Roma, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
A move in 2012 took him to Monchengladbach and Xhaka quickly became a first-team regular.
Known for his defensive ability to break up play and a creative spark to launch attacks upfield, Xhaka is currently one of Europe’s finest all-round midfielders.
Xhaka was a key part of Switzerland’s run to the 2014 World Cup, and started all four of his country’s games in Brazil, netting in the 5-2 loss to France.
Having recently signed a new long-term deal with their star, Xhaka is valued at £14m by transfermarkt.co.uk, and Monchengladbach are in no rush to sell.
It appears the club believe every player has his price however, so the question is, will Arsenal agree?
