Adebayor unlikely to solve Crystal Palace’s goalscoring woes

With Crystal Palace scoring just one goal in their last six Premier League fixtures, Alan Pardew will have been hoping that the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor might change things.
However according to the odds, the Togolese man is unlikely to offer up the sort of return that Eagles fans will be hoping for.
Ladbrokes have set Adebayor’s goal line for his stint in south London at over or under 3.5 goals, with a price of 5/6 on offer either way.
The bookmakers have gone so far as to quote the former Arsenal man as a 5/1 shot that he fails to find the back of the net at all this season in a Palace shirt, an event that will undoubtedly leave Pardew frustrated.
However the man himself is setting himself a target of a fair few more than four goals.
Speaking to the club’s official website the striker spoke of how he wanted to take Didier Drogba’s record as the highest scoring African in the Premier League, a feat which requires him to net nine more goals.
“If I can beat the record it would be the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my career, if not I will still be happy. The most important thing as a striker will be to score more goals,” he said.
Working off his average of a goal every 201 minutes during his most recent four-year stint at Tottenham, Adebayor would be on course for six goals should he play every remaining minute of Palace’s campaign.
Though, with no football played since September, it could be that the 31-year-old finds himself with fitness to prove before he becomes an automatic starter for his new club.
If he can slot into the Palace team quickly and help them in the goal-scoring department Adebayor could be key in securing back-to-back top-10 finishes in the top tier for the first time in 24 years.
