Aberdeen will have the edge in tight Ross County clash

Published:

This meeting between two teams that have both only lost one of their last five encounters across all competitions should be a closely run thing.

The Staggies have won three in that run, while the Dons have managed two and will be hoping to improve that run to narrow the three point gap Celtic have at the top of the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership.

To make proving a winner even more difficult, in the two meetings they’ve had this season they’ve shared wins and both scored three.

However, the wisest decision would be to back Aberdeen to win and both teams to score, with that result at 4/1 enhanced from 10/3.

The Dons overall record against Ross County is strong and last season they triumphed three times in as many meetings over their upcoming opponents.

During the course of those three games, Aberdeen scored eight and conceded none, but that shouldn’t convince you that the Staggies aren’t going to score this time round.

As their form and earlier result against the Dons shows, Roy MacGregor’s outfit are much stronger now then they ever have been in previous campaigns.

Indeed, they have only failed to put the ball in the net in one of their last five matches across all competitions.

When looking for someone to break the deadlock, it comes down to a decision between Adam Rooney and Liam Boyce.

Rooney is the second highest scorer in the league with 14 goals to his name, while Boyce is only one behind as the third top marksman in the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership.

However, when looking to choose someone for the *Double Odds First Goalscorer promotion, it becomes obvious which would of these prolific forwards would be the best to back.

Boyce hasn’t opened the scoring for the Staggies since September, while Rooney has managed to do so three times for his side in that run.

Therefore, the 27-year-old is the best option to open proceedings and is priced at 4/1 to do so.
