Spurs circle Barca striker in case of further Berahino hiccups

It looks very much like Tottenham will bring another striker to White Hart Lane in January as they bid to ensure a very impressive first half of the season does not peter out into disappointment over the second installment.
Unsettled West Brom striker Saido Berahino continues to be the main subject of speculation, especially as his fractious relationship with Baggies boss Tony Pulis is once again making headlines.
However, despite the ground appearing more fertile than in the summer when Spurs and West Brom were at loggerheads over Berahino’s price tag, the Lilywhites are sensibly searching for backup options to the England U21 star, in case negotiations prove as prickly once again.
Sandro Ramirez
A fresh name on Mauricio Pochettino’s wishlist has emerged in the morning gossip columns with one Spanish media outlet claiming Barcelona’s young striker Sandro Ramirez has been sounded out by the Argentine.
Known simply as Sandro in his native Spain, the 20-year-old forward broke into Luis Enrique’s first team plans in the latter part of 2014/15, having excelled for Barcelona B in the past few seasons.
Taking the well-trodden path through the Catalan club’s fames academy, Sandro has now netted seven senior goals in 30 Barca appearances.
Sandro’s best contribution this season came in a 6-1 rout of Spanish fourth division side Villanovense when he fired in a hat-trick.
Fighting for a place in Enrique’s 2014/15 treble-winning side is clearly not easy, though, up against the most fearsome striking triumvirate in world football of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, with many of Sandro’s outings coming via the bench.
Also jostling for contention at the Camp Nou with fellow starlet Munir El Haddadi, the chance for a more prominent role at Spurs could be a very tempting one.
Harry needs help
Although the London clubs will go into the new year nestled very nicely in fourth spot and a mere four points off the Premier League summit, it’s plain to see there is still an overreliance on top scorer Harry Kane.
The English striker has once again netted the lion’s share of Tottenham’s league goals, with 11.
If whispers of a possible title bid are to grow into audible noises, the Lilywhites are priced at 10/1 at the turn of the year and 1/2 for a top-four finish, then bringing in quality backup for Kane seems imperative.
