Rodgers moves over for Moyes in next Swansea manager market

It’s becoming more unlikely that Garry Monk’s successor at the Liberty Stadium will be former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers according to Ladbrokes, as two more past Premier League bosses have slipped ahead in the betting.
Upon the announcement of Monk’s departure, the unemployed Rodgers shot to the front of the market with the bookmaker, given his successful spell at the club before being plucked by Liverpool.
However, barely 24 hours later and the Northern Irishman has drifted to 6/1 third favourite to take up the vacant post, with former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes rocketing in overnight.
Recently relieved of his duties at the helm of Spanish outfit Real Sociedad, Moyes is now the 2/1 favourite to replace Monk.
The Scotsman’s decade-long spell at Everton, which included regular qualification for Europe, is obviously an appealing factor to Swans chairman Huw Jenkins despite the relative briefness of his next two jobs tarnishing his reputation slightly.
Sandwiched between Moyes and Rodgers in the betting is the eyebrow-raising inclusion of Gus Poyet.
The Uruguayan is just a point back at 3/1 despite being in temporary charge of AEK Athens, whom he joined in October, when agreeing to lead to lead the Greek side until the summer of 2016.
A move back to the Premier League may be too attractive a proposition to refuse for Poyet, although his time in charge of Sunderland did end bitterly, as he was sacked in March this year, in just his second season in charge.
Other interesting names in the market include former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson at 12/1 and Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp, who is a 16/1 shot.
Bergkamp is currently the assistant manager at Ajax and given the Premier League pedigree he carries from his playing days, the Dutchman is an intriguing candidate.
