Poll: Should Manchester United ditch Van Gaal and get Mourinho in?

Published:

Another week, another disappointing performance for Manchester United fans to get over, as the Red Devils fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Norwich.

Louis van Gaal’s position as manager has come under extreme scrutiny with the Old Trafford outfit now without a win in six games in all competitions.

Such poor form has seen the Dutchman installed as the 1/4 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job.

And while the discontent has yet to emerge from the camp itself, speculation continues to be rife.

Defender Phil Jones has spoken of how the mood in the camp isn’t as “glum” as it was under David Moyes, but that hasn’t stopped the press suggesting that a change of management is in store.

The man tipped to replace him is none other than former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The self styled ‘Special One’ left Stamford Bridge after two-and-a-half years in charge last week, after the defending champions endured their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign.

However, that poor showing and subsequent sacking hasn’t blunted Mourinho’s desire to jump straight back into another role, denying that he is set to take a sabbatical.

With Manchester United under plenty of pressure to curtail their recent slump in form, and the three-time Premier League-winning manager out of a job, Ladbrokes have priced up United being his next job as a 8/13 shot.

But would he be a good fit at the Theatre of Dreams?

Mourinho, like Van Gaal, has, at times, been criticised for his safety-first approach, and with the United fans already growing tired of LVG’s negative tactics his style could yet disappoint.

In today’s poll we are asking you if Manchester United should ditch the Dutchman and plump for the Portuguese in the dugout.
