Poll: How far will England go at Euro 2016 next summer?

Published:

It was a draw that could have been far worse for England, but their competitors in Group B at Euro 2016 certainly mean it won’t be a formality for Roy Hodgson’s men.

Slovakia, Russia and neighbours Wales will join the Three Lions at the pool stage of the tournament in France, with their campaign kicking off in Marseille on June 11.

The draw saw England’s price for glory remain at 11/1, while fellow home nation Wales were pushed out from 50/1 to 80/1 to land the spoils.

Not since Euro 96 have England got as far as the semi-finals at a European Championships, with two visits to the quarter-finals in the past four tournaments.

Anything less than a last eight showing might be seen as somewhat of a disappointment, with a 100 per cent record in qualifying behind them.

Doing just that is priced up at 13/5, while a repeat of their foray into the semis 20 years on is a 6/1 shot.

Should Roy’s boys do the unthinkable and go crashing out at the earliest opportunity, those pessimistic enough to take the 11/2 on offer could be left with some sort of consolation.

Four teams remain ahead of them in the betting, but with a young group of players looking like they are on an upward curve, could this be England’s year?

Vote now in today’s poll and tell us exactly how far you expect Wayne Rooney and Co to get at next summer’s tournament.
