POLL: Are Chelsea still too good to go down?

Published:

Jose Mourinho’s season of disaster took another blow last night as his reigning champions Chelsea lost 2-1 at this season’s showstoppers Leicester.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were once again on the scoresheet for the Foxes, while Loic Remy’s late effort proved nothing more than a consolation.

The result leaves Chelsea a point off the relegation zone, and though other reigning champs have got off to poor starts before, never has such a dominant team fallen so far from grace.

The west Londoners have lost nine times in 16 games this season – their worst record since they were relegated in 1978-79 – compared to just three in the entirety of last term.

One would envisage that sooner or later Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa will return to last season stellar form, and the quality within the team is reflected in their still-lengthy 50/1 shot to be relegated this season.

However, the Stamford Bridge club were 5,000/1 to go down before the campaign got underway, so while it may seem unthinkable that they could be a Championship side this time next year, should we be ruling it out completely just yet?

Today we want you to tell us; Are Chelsea still too good to go down? Or are now they now real relegation contenders?
