Odds slashed on Man United signing Bale, Ronaldo and Neymar

The odds on Manchester United signing three of the world’s biggest stars in one fell swoop have been slashed by Ladbrokes amid reports linking the Old Trafford club with Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

According to reports, Louis van Gaal has been given to the go-ahead to sign the Real Madrid pair and Barcelona star, as well as beating Chelsea to the signature of Everton defender John Stones in a bank-busting summer shopping spree.

On hearing the news, the bookmaker has shorted the odds on United being the next club of all four players, with Stones the favourite at 5/4 from 2/1.

Bale, who United have been linked with since his days as a potential talent at Southampton and Ronaldo, who came to prominence under Sir Alex Ferguson at United, have both seen their odds tumble from 3/1 to 6/4.

And finally, Neymar, who has outscored both Ronaldo and team-mate Lionel Messi in La Liga this year, has been cut from 5/1 to 2/1.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The odds of all of United’s big money transfer targets making the move to Old Trafford have shortened considerably.

“It simply looks to be a case of how many of them will sign and when.”

The signings would be music to United’s fans ears with the club struggling in front of goal so far this season.

Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have failed to set the world alight and James Wilson, the only other recognised striker at the club, has been sent on loan to Brighton.

United will hope to put their drab attacking displays behind them when they travel to Bournemouth this weekend and at 23/20 Van Gaal’s men are expected to claim all three points.

Whether or not they can perform in a manner that makes the fans think the likes of Bale, CR7 and Neymar are not needed, however, remains to be seen.
