Next Chelsea boss betting provides evidence to keep Mourinho

After losing their ninth Premier League outing of the campaign against Leicester on Monday night, Chelsea are reportedly discussing the future of their manager Jose Mourinho.
The defeat left the defending champions one point off the relegation places and saw the Portuguese tactician collapse in to 4/6 favouritism, with Ladbrokes, to be the next top-flight boss to leave his post.
However, as Roman Abramovich ponders parting ways with the club’s iconic manager for the second time during his ownership, a quick glance at the betting for Mourinho’s successor should be all the convincing the Russian needs to stand pat.
Ladbrokes can’t split two men at the head of the market, making former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti and one-time England coach Fabio Capello the 7/2 co-favourites.
Obviously after a successful first season in charge of the west Londoners back in 2009, Ancelotti would be a welcome returnee, although the unceremonious end to his tenure after just two terms may dissuade the Italian from a second spell.
Capello, while standing as one of the most successful managers in the game, hasn’t held a club position since leaving Real Madrid in 2007. His disciplinarian personality may not be the best fit for a Chelsea squad whose confidence is fractured either, especially as Mourinho’s own attempts at tough love have fallen short this term.
Beyond that pair comes a list spanning the unattainable, the unsuited and the downright unrealistic.
Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone would, to state the obvious, be attractive hires, but neither are going to jump from the successful ships they are currently steering to climb aboard Stamford Bridge’s Titanic.
Brendan Rodgers, having failed to prove his ability as a big-club boss for more than one isolated season, is a fanciful 11/1 chance, while Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry all fill the standard “former player without experience” positions found in these markets.
Admittedly Chelsea’s campaign is becoming more and more fraught by the game, but without an obvious candidate ready to save it, Abramovich must allow Mourinho to continue on the sidelines.
