Ladbrokes punter set for epic Christmas after bumper Leicester win

Published:

Leicester’s surprisingly lofty position at this time of the year will be a pleasant surprise for many Foxes fans but for one man in particular, it has ensured he’s having a very merry Christmas.

But he does have fans of rivals Nottingham Forest to thank in some part for his success.

Keval Nakeshree placed a pre-season wager that, at the time might have seemed very optimistic, but the faith shown in his side has definitely paid off.

The bet that Claudio Ranieri’s men would be top at Christmas heralded odds of 1000/1, but that didn’t put off Keval who staked £5 on such an outcome.

Victory away at Everton last weekend ensure that the Nakeshree household will be toasting the Leicester team as they bagged the December 25 top-spot.

Speaking to Ladbrokes the 38-year-old told of how the bet actually came about thanks to some friendly banter with his former colleagues.

“My old boss was a Forest fan so I have to thank him for the win. One of the reasons I put the bet on was to prove the Forest fans wrong,” Keval told Ladbrokes.

With Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez playing a major part, the east Midlands outfit have certainly done that, winning 11 of their opening 16 matches to head into the festive period as leaders.

It could get a whole lot better for the man from Gloucester though, as he also staked £5 each-way that the Foxes land a first Premier League title this term.

If Ranieri can keep his side in pole position until the close of play, Keval will be celebrating a cool £33,000 heading his way, while even a second-place finish will bring in over £8,000.

And after his first success, our winning punter is full of confidence that his side can keep up the good work;

“I have full belief in my team going all the way and can’t wait for next year now. If they are still top around February I will start thinking about what to do with the money,” he said.

As well as already banking a bumper return of £5,005, Ladbrokes rewarded the Foxes supporter for his foresight with a special commemorative Leicester City shirt to mark the occasion.

Plans are already afoot to spend the money with the Keval’s family set to be treated to a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Florida.

Ladbrokes spokesman, Alex Donohue, said of the success; “This has to go down as one of the most incredible winning bets of all time. A fan who had the belief backed his side to defy the odds and the cash couldn’t come at a better time.”

Up next for Leicester is a Boxing Day trip to Anfield as they bid to maintain their hold on top-spot and take Keval one step closer to that £33k pot.
