Ladbrokes Premiership: What to watch out for on Boxing Day

Boxing Day may be a day for lounging around eating leftovers and watching Two Ronnies repeats for some but for football lovers its one of the busiest and best days of the year.
This year promises to be no different in Scotland with 10 of the top flight’s 12 clubs in action on December 26.
Here’s what to look out for the day after Christmas – providing the weather doesn’t get in the way of a football feast.
Aberdeen v Inverness CT
The Dons have now fully recovered from the blip that followed their record-breaking start to the Ladbrokes Premiership season and a win for Derek McInnes’ men would see them top the table for at least 24 hours.
At the other end of the table, Inverness could find themselves just one point above the relegation play-off place unless they can halt Aberdeen’s progress.
Dundee United v Motherwell
January can’t come soon enough for the Terrors, with Mixu Paatenleinen’s side the favourites to be busiest in the transfer window, and the basement boys could find themselves 10 points adrift of 11th place with defeat against Well.
The visitors had been struggling too but a famous 2-1 win at Celtic Park will have Mark McGhee’s men full of confidence ahead of this Boxing Day bout.
Hamilton v Kilmarnock
The Accies come into this game looking to avoid a third straight defeat but in Killie they will face a side also desperate for a win.
Defeat for the visitors could leave them just four points above the Terrors, meaning a relegation dogfight could await them in 2016.
Partick Thistle v St Johnstone
Thistle were flirting with a relegation scrap of their own just a few weeks back but have shown what a confidence boost can do. Now on a four-game win streak Partick could go as high as fifth win victory over the Saints.
The visitors will have all the motivation they need to halt the Jags in their stride, however, with a win putting them in the top three for at least 24 hours.
Ross County v Dundee
The Staggies go into this game having won just once in four attempts but while the Dees were victorious last time out it was their first success in nine games.
A tight encounter awaits but with both sides firmly mid table a share of the spoils wouldn’t be the worst outcome – it is the season of giving after all.
