Ladbrokes Premiership: Partick to carry on up the table

Published:

Celtic may have a decent-sized gap at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership but there is still plenty of intrigue about Scotland’s top flight.

Newly-promoted Hearts continue to impress, while Aberdeen are once again approaching the form that saw them start the season with a record eight consecutive wins.

There is plenty of action stemming from the other end of the table at present too, with Dundee United struggling to keep pace and Partick Thistle on a great run to distance themselves from trouble.

Here’s a preview for this weekend’s action.

Celtic v Hamilton

Celtic may have come in for criticism at times this season but the fact remains they are comfortably top of the table and have been beaten at Parkhead in the league just once in 24 games.

The Accies have won just one of the last 13 meetings with the Bhoys and with just four away wins from their last 16 games on the road another victory appears unlikely here. With four of the last five meetings seeing the winner keep a clean sheet, backing the Hoops to do the same could pay here.
Best bet: Celtic to win to nil @ 10/11

Hearts v Inverness CT

The Jambos are unbeaten in eight league games and will fancy their chances of extending that run against a Caley side that has won just three of its last 15 games on the road.

Thistle are unbeaten in 10 meetings with the Jam Tarts, but on current form – the visitors have won one of their last eight matches – this one looks likely to go only one way.
Best bet: Hearts (-1) @ 9/4

Kilmarnock v Dundee United

Two teams in woeful form meet at Rugby Park this weekend but with just eight points to their name it is Dundee United who should be more desperate for the win.

United have lost their last four games but the situation is worse than that with just two victories from 15 outings in all competitions. Killie will be wounded after a 5-2 defeat to Partick last time out but having won three of the last four meetings will fancy their chances of bouncing back.
Best Bet: Kilmarnock to win @ 6/4

Partick Thistle v Motherwell

Partick are unrecognisable from the side that failed to win their opening 10 games of the season, losing just one of their last seven in the Premiership.

Motherwell’s form is the exact opposite, with just one victory in the last seven for Mark McGhee’s men. Well have won away at Partick just once since 1996 so a home triumph appears to be on the cards once more.
Best Bet: Partick Thistle to win @ 11/10

Ross County v St Johnstone

The Saints have been hard to predict this season but look a steady ship of late with five wins and a draw from their last six matches. This run includes four consecutive away wins, with a glut of goals coming in that time.

The last four games on the road have seen 16 goals, with three of those games seeing three or more strikes. With County losing three of their last four and shipping eight goals in the process another thriller could lie in store.
Best Bet: Over 3.5 goals @ 5/2
