Ladbrokes Premiership: Dundee to boost play-off hopes
With the tasty lunch-time tie taking third-place Hearts to second-placed Aberdeen the Ladbrokes Premiership is set to deliver some thrilling action once again this weekend.
The Dons and the Jambos aren’t the only ticket in town, however, with a full schedule of Scottish top flight games taking place – weather permitting.
Here’s our preview of the rest of this week’s fixtures…
Dundee United v Partick Thistle
The Terrors have certainly been giving their fans a fright this season and come into this game on the back of three losses and a draw. Partick’s fortunes have vastly improved of late, with Thistle riding the wave of two successive wins. The Jags have won both of this year’s meetings (3-0 and 2-0) without conceding, indicating more misery for Mark McGhee’s men.
Best Bet: Partick to win to nil @ 4/1
Hamilton v Ross County
County’s place in the top six could be under serious threat, with the visitors arriving have lost four of their last five games.
The Staggies may have won both 2015 meetings but current form suggests a turning of the tide, with the Accies bouncing back from successive defeats to earn a credible draw with Aberdeen and a win over basement boys United.
Four of the last six meetings have seen more than three goals and with both sides leaking goals of late another high-scoring affair can be expected.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals @ Evens
Inverness CT v Kilmarnock
The away side has won just once in the last six meetings between these two and while both Caley and Killie have struggled of late it is Thistle that need the shortest memory to recollect that winning feeling.
Killie are now winless in five, while the 3-1 victory over Motherwell three games back could offer a glimmer of confidence to the hosts.
Best bet: Inverness CT to win @ 3/4
Motherwell v Dundee
The Dees look set to move up into the play-off places at the expense of Ross County, with the visitors having lost just once in five games – to in-form Aberdeen.
That defeat ended a run of four successive 1-1 draws and if the away side can show such resolve in defence an away win could be on the cards against a Well side with just two wins from their last 11 outings.
Best Bet: Dundee to win @ 7/4
St Johnstone v Celtic
The Bhoys are unlikely to get things all their own way against an in-form Saints side this weekend.
Tommy Wright and Ronny Deila have both overseen four wins and a draw in their last five league games meaning a tight encounter could ensue. Celtic have, however, lost just one of the last 13 meetings so should have enough to combat the high-flying Saints.
Best Bet: BTTS and Celtic to win @ 21/10
