Ladbrokes Premiership: Aberdeen to top table on Boxing Day

Published:

With Celtic and Hearts not meeting until December 28 Aberdeen have a golden opportunity to top the Ladbrokes Premiership on Boxing Day as the remaining 10 teams take to the field

The Dons host Inverness on what should be an action-packed day of Scottish football with vital points in the title chase and survival race up for grabs.

Here’s the Ladbrokes News preview of the Boxing Day fixtures, with a nod to some of the better bets…

Aberdeen v Inverness CT

Inverness could find themselves just one point above the relegation play-off place unless they can halt the in-form Aberdeen. With just two wins in 10 meetings with the Dons, however, it seems unlikely they can pull off a shock. With 1-0 to Aberdeen the most common result in that run another narrow win could be on the cards.
Best Bet: Aberdeen to win 1-0 @ 9/2

Dundee United v Motherwell

Mixu Paatelainen’s basement boys could find themselves 10 points adrift of 11th place with defeat against Well and with the visitors coming into the tie on the back of an 2-1 win over league leaders Celtic the Terrors face a daunting task. However, United have won five of the last six meetings so could be good value for a point on current form.
Best Bet: Draw @ 12/5

Hamilton v Kilmarnock

The Accies come into this game looking to avoid a third straight defeat but with Killie also struggling for form an even match awaits. Kilmarnock have won just one of the last seven meetings and with Hamilton at home the points should be staying at New Douglas Park.
Best Bet: Hamilton to win @ 4/5

Partick Thistle v St Johnstone

Thistle are back from their poor early-season form and are now on a four-game win streak and looking to  go as high as fifth with victory over the Saints. The visitors have won just once in four attempts and one of five meetings with the Jags so expect the Thistle Express to steam on.
Best Bet: Partick (-1) @ 4/1

Ross County v Dundee

County are in questionable form with just one win in four attempts but in Dundee – victorious just once in nine games – they meet a side also struggling.

The Dees are winless in 10 meetings with the Staggies, with five wins for Ross and five draws so expect Dundee’s problems to deepen.
Best Bet: Double Chance – Ross County win/draw @ 2/7
