Ladbrokes backing Leeds legend Kevin Sinfield for SPOTY glory

Published:

This October saw a rugby league legend bow out of the game on one of the biggest highs imaginable, as Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield guided the Rhino to their first ever treble.

After what was an exceptional final season before switching codes, Sinfield has started to get the recognition he deserves with a nomination for Sports Personality of the Year.

He may be a 7/1 shot, but with the backing of the whole of the rugby league community there is no reason he cannot pick up this well deserved prize.

The Oldham-born stand-off racked up over 500 appearances for Leeds in an illustrious career, winning a total of 15 trophies for the Yorkshire outfit and left them as their all-time record points scorer.

But what he did this year is unprecedented as he guided his club to a historic haul of the League Leaders’ Shield, the Super League Grand Final and the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

Here’s why the Leeds and England legend needs your backing…

The RFL have launched the hashtag #Kev4SPOTY to raise awareness of the push to see Sinfield land the award.

Ladbrokes have joined the campaign as well with #Sinfield4SPOTY our hashtag to get behind the two-time Harry Sunderland Trophy winner.

Here at the Ladbrokes News office, our very own James Curtis has been sporting one of our #SinfieldForSPOTY rosettes.

As well as the official channels, Sinfield has received the backing from various other campaigns to see him crowned this year’s winner. With 20 telephone votes costing around £3, one user has set-up #BuyKevAPint, with the money spent voting costing less in total than a cold beverage might set you back in your local pub – depending on where you frequent!

Voting for Kev on December 20 is not just about backing the man himself, it’s about supporting the whole sport of rugby league.

Lewis Hamilton and Andy Murray have already had their day with the award, Jessica Ennis-Hill will have plenty of chances next year, so now’s the time to get voting for Sinfield.
