Hibernian do the double again and capture November awards

Published:

Hibernian’s fine run of form in the Ladbrokes Championship has been recognised for the second successive month with boss Alan Stubbs and midfielder John McGinn scooping the November Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards.

The Edinburgh club won all four of their league fixtures, including a 2-1 success over Rangers to keep the heat on their rivals.

Defeat to Dumbarton on the opening day of the season did little to inspire the Easter Road faithful however their team’s performances since then have given fans real hope of pushing Mark Warburton’s side all the way in the title race.

Opening November with that victory over the Gers set the tone with subsequent wins over St. Mirren, Livingston and Alloa delivering another consistent set of results for Stubbs’ outfit.

On receiving his latest accolade the Hibees boss said: “These awards are a reward for everybody behind the scenes rather than just me personally.

“Without them it makes achieving success much more difficult. It’s great to get these awards but the most important aspect is getting the right results on the pitch.

“Sometimes these awards are a curse but this is two in a row now and thankfully we won our next games following the last one and I’m hoping that continues. “

One player who’s certainly been helping the Hibs cause recently has been Scotland under-21 captain McGinn.

The summer signing from St. Mirren has been a driving force behind potent strike duo James Keatings and Jason Cummings.

His assist for Hibs’ goal in their slender 1-0 victory over Alloa was just one of his pivotal moments that caught the eye as the ever-present midfielder firmly established himself as one of Hibernian’s key men this season.
