Ex-Man United winger urges club to buy Championship star
A former Manchester United winger has called on the club to rescue striker Charlie Austin from the Championship.
Gordon Hill, who played over 100 league games for the Red Devils in the 1970s, is dumbfounded that no-one has snapped up the QPR striker, with the 26-year-old still scoring for fun and out of contract in the summer.
Austin has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, Southampton, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace among them, but Hill, who also ran out for QPR and earned six caps with England, believes the Hoops hitman can play at the highest level.
Hill used his Twitter account to liken Austin to this year’s surprise Premier League hotshot Jamie Vardy and urged his old club to snap him up when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Cann ot understand why Charlie Austin is still playing in the Championship, same mold Vardy. take a chance United.

Austin proved he can mix it with the big boys by scoring an impressive 18 goals in the top flight last season and earning a call up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad. It is his consistency, however, that should appeal to United, with the striker netting double figures in each of the last seven seasons – a stat not lost on the guys at BBC Radio 5 Live.

Austin is free to talk to clubs in the New Year and can walk away from Loftus Road for free in the summer but there will be plenty of clubs looking to test new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s resolve.
With huge TV money on the line next season the R’s may decide to keep hold of their man but with Euro 2016 on the horizon, Austin might just fancy a return to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
