Dundee need to brace themselves for a Celtic backlash

Published:

But for a last-gasp free-kick stunner from Hearts man Osman Sow, Celtic would be heading into tonight’s game at Dundee with a handy three point lead over Aberdeen at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

A win would have been particularly sweet given the Dons also endured a 2-2 draw with Inverness, but nevertheless Ronny Deila’s men maintain a single-point advantage with a game in hand.

Having seen victory snatched away so late in the day at Tynecastle, the Bhoys will be out to reassert their title challenge at Dens Park.

The visitors are 4/11 for the win, and handed their opponents quite a beating in a 6-0 success earlier in the season.

That win followed a 5-0 hammering by the Bhoys at of tail end of last term, and Celtic have a thoroughly dominant record over the Dees in the 21st century.

Over the last 21 league meetings, Celtic have won 18 and drawn three, with Dundee’s last victory against the Bhoys way back in May 2001.

Having conceded 11 in their last two meetings with the reigning champions, and suffered a heavy 5-2 loss to Ross County on Boxing Day, the 15/2 on Dundee to win might not find too much favour, while a draw is 4/1.

Should Celtic prove to be in the mood for goals, the 12/5 on the -2 handicap could prove popular.

Both teams have netted in three of Celtic’s last four Premiership matches, and with a trio of Dundee’s last five results also seeing both sides score, Ladbrokes are feeling generous by boosting Celtic to win and both teams to score from 6/4 to 2/1.

The BT Sport cameras will be in place at Dens Park tonight too, and that means you can get stuck into Ladbrokes’ Double Odds offer.

Simply back a player to score first and if that man nets the opening goal of the game inside the first 25 minutes, Ladbrokes will pay you out at double the odds!*

We need look no further than hotshot Leigh Griffiths. The 25-year-old has six goals in his last four league games, and should he net the opener inside the first 25 minutes, your 11/4 odds would see you paid out at a tidy 11/2!
