Alan Stubbs: “I won’t be having a rant about Reading speculation”

Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month Alan Stubbs has played down rumours linking him with the vacant managerial role at Reading.

Having received the accolade for November, the second successive month his efforts have been recognised by the title sponsor, Stubbs told the assembled media gathering that he’s fully committed to Hibernian.

He said: “I’ve come in today with the same mindset as I did last Monday and that’s to get the team ready for a big game next Saturday.

“The speculation isn’t distracting, I don’t think too much about it. I won’t be taking too much notice or be having a rant.

“The only contact I’ve had has been from a few friends asking me about it. “

The 44-year-old manager has continued to see his stock rise following a month where his side won all four of their matches to increase the pressure on Championship leaders Rangers.

However, despite the praise being heaped upon him, the former Celtic defender has reaffirmed his commitment to his employers at Easter Road.

“It’s not in my court. I’m firmly focused on my job here and that will never change. If we keep winning games then yes, there may be speculation. But the main thing for me is winning games for Hibernian Football Club” he added.

“I’ve really enjoyed it here and everyone’s been so supportive. That’s why we’ve been getting rewards on the pitch.

“My mind is on achieving what we set out to do at the start of the season.

“There’s nothing to comment on. It’s all purely speculation. Just because it’s in the papers doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.“
