AFC Bournemouth set sights on Serie A stopper

AFC Bournemouth could give their survival hopes a serious shot in the arm with the January capture of an in-form Serie A goalkeeper.

Atalanta’s Marco Sportiello has kept an impressive seven clean sheets in Italy’s top flight this season to help guide La Dea to eighth in Serie A.

The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool last year and it is thought it would take a bid in excess of £8m to tempt Atalanta to sell.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has rotated between Artur Boruc and Adam Federici this season and while both men have put in some strong displays, neither has been able to emerge as first choice in their own right.

With Bournemouth leaking five goals in back-to-back games earlier this season goal difference could play a huge part in the race for survival and Howe is seemingly taking no chances.

The Dean Court club are on something of a run at present drawing with Swansea and Everton before beating both Chelsea and Manchester United.

Next up for the Seasiders is a trip to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom in a game which sees the Baggies priced up as 7/5 favourites.

Bournemouth can be backed at 19/10 to keep their winning streak running, while it’s 11/5 that the sides share the points.
