Wright is wrong, England would be big favourites against Wales

ITV pundit and former Three Lions striker Ian Wright thinks England would be underdogs should they face Wales but Ladbrokes News readers strongly disagree.
Reacting to Wright’s comments, 72 per cent of those polled believe Roy Hodgson’s men – and NOT the Dragons – would be the favourites for victory should the two countries meet.
And by our maths that means just 25 per cent believe that Chris Coleman’s Welsh outfit would have the edge ahead of a hypothetical encounter.
Speaking after England’s 2-0 success over France yesterday evening, Wright commented:
“Wales and England going at it, for the British Isles it would be magnificent,” he said after England’s victory over France at an emotional Wembley on Tuesday.
“But I wouldn’t want Wales at the moment just because of the vibe in the country and in the squad, especially watching England the other day against Spain.
“Wales against England right now, I’m sure Wales would feel like they’d be favourites going into that.”
Such a match-up is a very real possibility at next year’s European Championship. Wales will be one of six teams that England could draw from a pot that will also contain Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
And with England higher than the Welsh in the latest FIFA World Rankings and riding a crest of a wave following an unbeaten qualification campaign, it’s difficult to see the bookies agreeing with Wright and making Wales favourites should the two teams meet next summer.
