Zlatan Ibrahimovic is coming under criticism at Paris Saint-Germain, with his Champions League form continually being called into question despite solid league performances.
Romelu Lukaku is being lined up as a £45million replacement, meaning Ibra could be in need of a new club if he wants to continue having a starring role.
This set of circumstances is perfect for both parties, and could see the famous striker head to the 20-time league winners.
In the past 11 seasons, he’s won a league title nine times, and it would have been ten if not for the Calciopoli scandal revoking a triumph with Juventus.
Even more impressively, he’s done this at five different clubs across three countries, earning success with Juve, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona and PSG.
He also had two Eredivisie wins early on in his career at Ajax, bringing his total of league triumphs to 12 or 11, depending on your take on Calciopoli.
Notably, this run of 12 league titles in 14 seasons is better than any club of Europe’s major leagues, highlighting the pedigree of Sweden’s captain.
Furthermore, United have precedence with signing aging Swedish forwards for a short-term boost.
Henrik Larsson arrived at Old Trafford in 2007 on loan from Barcelona as the Red Devils needed more depth up front.
The former Celtic man ended up playing 13 times for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, scoring three times.
It’s not the most impressive goals to game record in history, but the industry and determination showed by Larsson was enough to make him a cult figure during his short time at Old Trafford.
Quite whether Ibrahimovic can have a similar impact remains to be seen, but his nine Ligue 1 goals in eight games suggest the 34-year-old isn’t done scoring quite just yet.
