As the January transfer window draws ever nearer, Arsene Wenger continues to scour the continent for the players he feels can lead Arsenal the this season’s Premier League.

The Gunners sit joint top alongside Man City, despite eight first-team players out with injury at the Emirates.

Of particular concern to Wenger is the lack of attacking options for his side, with Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey all missing for the Emirates team, and Danny Welbeck is yet to feature at all this term.

All this has left the Gunners boss with Olivier Giroud up front and Joel Campbell thrusted into the first-team in recent weeks.

While the duo have performed admirably, reports this week suggest Wenger is seeking to bring in extra numbers when the transfer window reopens in six weeks’ time.

Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev has found himself out of favour under Rafael Benitez in the Spanish capital, and a January exit is looking evermore likely.

The Russian joined the Whites in 2012 aged just 21, and a loan spell with Villarreal last season impressed many on a weekly basis.

At 24, Cheryshev should be coming into the peak of his career, and at £7m would offer Wenger some crucial extra options across his usual formation of three-wingers behind a sole front man.

Cheryshev needs a move to kick-start his career, and Wenger needs an affordable, and injury-free winger.

Arsenal may face more of a fight for another La Liga forward however.

Celta Vigo have been one of the surprises of the season in Spain, no thanks to their 29-year-old striker Nolito.

The Spaniard has seven goals in 10 league games this term, and looks set to beat his totals of 13 and 14 in the preceding two years.

Signed by Celta from Benfica in 2013, Nolito spent two unhappy seasons failing to break into the Barcelona team in 2010 but it appears the Catalan giants want him back.

It’s alleged Barcelona are slight favourites to secure Nolito’s signature in January, but should have fancy a move to pastures new, Arsenal look set to snap him up.
