Poll: Will Dr Steelhammer’s reign be ended by Tyson Fury?

Published:

From entering a press conference dressed as Batman and defeating the Joker to serendading Wladimir Klitschko with a Bette Midler classic, Tyson Fury’s prep for their fight on Saturday has taken some unusual turns.

But in the ring on Dusseldorf tomorrow night there will be no place for messing around when the ‘Gypsy King’ goes toe-to-toe with ‘Dr Steelhammer’ for the Ukrainian’s world heavyweight titles.

The incumbent champion is priced up as 2/9 favourite to see off Fury, while the unbeaten Manchester native is a 7/2 chance, with the draw a long shot at 33/1.

The 27-year-old will be the second Brit Klitschko has faced, after seeing off David Haye on points in 2011, and he’s pretty confident that Fury will pose no problems.

“I would have to allow someone to beat me, but I won’t allow that because my ego is my protection,” he said.

“The person who can beat me is myself. If I’m 100 per cent focused, then the only person who can beat me is myself.”

While he has been world heavyweight champion for almost 10 years, it is the fact that he is 12 years elder than Fury that his opponent has drawn upon in the build up to the fight.

“The key factor here for me is your age,” he told Klitschko in one press conference.

“My ability is going to make your age catch up with you. No matter how hard you train, how good you feel, you can’t compete with young athletes.”

Fury can certainly talk-the-talk, but can he walk-the-walk?

We want you to tell us in today’s poll by voting for who will win the box office contest on Saturday evening.
