Poll: Is the top half the best Chelsea can hope for this season?

Published:

The Chelsea horror show continued over Halloween with Jose Mourinho unable to turn his side’s slump around, going down 3-1 to Liverpool.

In securing Jurgen Klopp’s first league win as Reds boss, the Merseyside outfit confounded the champions to a third Premier League defeat in their last four games.

That loss means the Blues are now just four points above the relegation spots and have conceded more goals at home this term in six games, than they did in the whole of the 2014-15 season at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho insisted that he is the man for the job and he expects things to continue as normal in west London, but how the latest twist to the story affects things remains to be seen.

After calling a meeting of his coaching staff in the centre circle after the Liverpool defeat, reports of dressing room disharmony began to surface in the press.

According to BBC 5 Live’s Garry Richardson a Chelsea “first-team player” has said that “he would rather lose than win for Mourinho”, having been upset at the way the Portuguese gaffer is dealing with his squad.

Losing is something that has not been hard to do for the capital club of late, and it looks all but certain that any defence of their title is over.

Odds of 66/1 say that any pursuit of Manchester City for top-spot will be futile, while they are now 21/10 shots to even make the top four, having been 1/33 before a ball had been kicked this term.

However, while they may only have three teams between themselves and the drop zone, the 200/1 on offer says that as bad as things are, relegation will not be a factor come May.

But are those odds a little on the large side? Or will Chelsea finally turn it around?

We want you to tell us just where Mourinho and Co will finish this Premier League season.
