POLL: Can Villa’s new boss Garde them from the drop?

Published:

These are troubled times for Aston Villa, and they took another turn for the worse last night in a 3-1 defeat away at Tottenham in front of new boss, Remi Garde.

The Frenchman has taken charge of the Birmingham club following Tim Sherwood’s departure, but Villa’s woeful first-half display will have left him in no doubt about the size of the task ahead.

Defeat at White Hart Lane was Villa’s ninth of the season, and their four points thus far have come against Bournemouth and Sunderland.

A quick look back over the last 10 seasons reveals that the team sat bottom of the Premier League after 11 games has been relegated on seven occasions.

To put Villa’s plight into perspective, five of those seven doomed sides had more points at this stage than the Midland side’s current tally of four points.

Garde heads straight into the deep end this Sunday with a home game against Manchester City, but today we want you to tell us if you think the former Lyon manager can keep Villa up this season, or is the damage already done?
