Ladbrokes Premiership: Dundee United stop the rot with win

Dundee United picked up a second win of the season to move to within two points of Partick Thistle at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership.
The Terrors had lost nine and drawn two of their previous 12 games but picked up a much-needed three points at home against Ross County thanks to an 81st-minute penalty from Billy McKay.
The win puts United on eight points and means they now trail Partick, who were hammered 4-0 at home by Hearts, by just two points.
The Jambos’ win saw them leapfrog Aberdeen into second place, with the Dons dropping down to third thanks to a 3-1 loss at Parkhead to league leaders Celtic.
The Bhoys now find themselves six points clear of Hearts at the top of the table, easing the pressure on Ronny Deila’s men.
St Johnstone lead the chasing pack, two points clear of Ross County in fourth place after a Graham Cummins brace set Tommy Wright’s side up for a 4-2 away win over Hamilton.
Elsewhere, Inverness were unable to make home advantage count against Dundee, with a 1-1 draw the best the Caley Jags could muster.
John Hughes’ side are now three games without a win and just four points above Partick in the relegation play-off spot.
And finally Motherwell out a three-game winless streak to bed with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kilmarnock, with an 87th-minute Louis Moult strike enough to secure the points.
