Ladbrokes Premiership: Dundee United cut further adrift

Dundee United were cut further adrift at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership at the weekend, with defeat to Hamilton leaving the Terrors eight points from safety and seven points behind 11th-placed Motherwell.
Mixu Paatelainen’s side were condemned to a third straight defeat at home to Hamilton despite going 1-0 up inside half an hour through Billy McKay.
A Gavin Gunning own goal and Ziggy Gordon’s smart finish turned the game on its head and saw the Accies move back in to the top six.
The Terrors’ plight was made worse by the fact that fellow strugglers Motherwell managed to hold an in-form Hearts to a 2-2 draw at Fir Park.
Louis Holt had the hosts in front after just 90 seconds, only to see Juanma Delgado cancel out the opener seven minutes later.
It was a similar story in the second half, with Marvin Johnson putting Well back in front on 65 minutes, only to see parity resorted by a stunning 30-yard effort from Jambos ace Osman Sow.
The draw saw Hearts drop to third thanks to a second win in three games for a rejuvenated Aberdeen.
The Dons fought back from 1-0 down against Ross County, Craig Currans’ 14th-minute opener being cancelled out early in the second half by Adam Rooney.
Just two minutes later the hosts took the lead through Jonny Hayes before Kenny McLean sealed all three points with 10 minutes to spare.
The Dons were unable to close the gap on league leaders Celtic, however, with the Bhoys running out convincing 3-1 winners away to Inverness.
Elsewhere, St Johnstone and Dundee shared the spoils in the Friday night clash after a 1-1 draw, while Partick Thistle distanced themselves from the relegation dogfight in style, running out 5-2 winners away to Kilmarnock.
