Ladbrokes League 2: Annan to return to winning ways
Life in Ladbrokes League 2 this year is proving to be immensely competitive. So much so that East Fife in third are as many points off leaders Annan as they are from bottom side East Stirling.
The international break may be in full effect further up the Ladbrokes SPFL, but life in League 2 allows no such rest. Annan look to extend their lead at the top when they host Berwick, Clyde aim to go second when they meet Elgin, while Stirling Albion look to continue their impressive run.
Here’s your weekly preview…
Annan Athletic v Berwick
Annan saw their three-game winning run ended last week at Elgin but they’re unbeaten at home this term. Visitors Berwick lost 4-1 at Annan in the cup less than a month ago, and went down 2-0 at home in September’s league meeting.
Rangers have won just one of their last seven in all competitions, and could be heading back across the border empty handed.
Best Bet: Annan -1 @ 17/10
Clyde v Elgin
There is plenty to play for at Broadwood, with Clyde hoping to go second in the table, and Elgin eyeing up top spot should they win and Annan lose.
Clyde have struggled somewhat of late, winning once in their last seven across league and cup, while City have been beaten once in their last five league games, beating Annan 3-2 last weekend.
The pair drew 1-1 in their first meeting this term, and a similarly close encounter could be in the offing with the Bully Wee failing to keep a clean sheet at home.
Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 13/20
East Fife v East Stirling
East Stirling have really compressed the division with seven points from their last nine, but just one point on the road suggests they don’t travel too well.
East Fife have struggled of late however, failing to win any of their last six games in all competitions, with three of their last four in the league ending 1-1.
Best Bet: Draw @ 10/3
Stirling Albion v Arbroath
Just a point separates these sides in the table, but Stirling Albion are currently holders of the league’s longest unbeaten run at four games.
Throw in cup games and Albion are without a loss in six, but Arbroath prevailed 2-0 in the pair’s first clash this year.
Albion are much improved now however, and with Arbroath’s solid road record, this should be a closer affair second time around.
Best Bet: Draw no bet Stirling @ 4/5
