Ladbrokes League 1: Cowdenbeath revival continues as Pars stutter

What a difference a weekend can make, as things took a major shake-up in Ladbrokes League 1 with the division now looking an ultimately more competitive affair.
Having gone down to Dunfermline to an aggregate score of 12-2 in their pair of meetings already this term, you would have been forgiven for thinking that another heavy loss was on the cards for Cowdenbeath.
However, the Blue Brazil had other ideas as they showed guts and determination to bag a point at the expense of the league leaders in a goalless draw.
That now means that Colin Nish’s men are unbeaten in three games, and with the way other results went are now just five points off the promotion play-off places.
For the Pars though, that draw means they have had to hand over top-spot to Ayr United.
The Honest Men ran out comprehensive winners over Stranraer in a 3-1 victory with goals coming from Robbie Crawford, Jamie Adams and Jordan Preston.
One point clear at the summit, United had their title-winning odds clipped from 4/1 to 3/1, while The Blues drop into the relegation play-off spot.
They will also have to be looking over their shoulder after Brechin City picked up their third win in six at the expense of Forfar.
Andy Jackson was the scorer of the sole goal of the game, as The Loons saw both Derek Young and Thomas O’Brien receive their marching orders in the second half.
With four defeats in their last six games, Dick Campbell will be looking to turn things around as the Angus outfit begin to fall back towards the chasing pack.
They have Stenhousemuir hot on their heels after they came back from 3-0 down to overcome Peterhead in a stunning turnaround.
Rory McAllister had netted a first-half hat-trick to send the visitors in at the break in an extremely healthy position, leading 3-1 after Colin McMenamin struck late for Stenny.
The second half was all about the hosts though as a brace from Jason Scotland and a 68th minute winner from Kieran Millar handed them the points, in turn ending a run of five matches with a win.
With things tightening up behind them, Saturday would have been a perfect time for either Albion Rovers in third or Airdrieonians in fourth to really pull away from the rest.
However the pair had to share the spoils after Ally Love cancelled out Bryan Prunty’s strike just before half time.
Having seen change at both the top and the bottom of the table, it still looks a tough call to suggest what the Ladbrokes League 1 table will look like at the end of the season.
