Jake White heads the betting to be next England coach

Few can say there were surprised, but Stuart Lancaster’s time as England coach has come to an end, with Jake White the early favourite to succeed the Englishman.
A dismal World Cup saw the hosts crash out with a pool game to spare after defeats to Wales and Australia left Lancaster taking the heat from vast media scrutiny.
With England’s next coach due to name his squad for the 2016 Six Nations in just eight weeks time, the RFU are set to move quickly to appoint Lancaster’s successor.
Jake White heads that list, and the South African is 3/1 with Ladbrokes to take on one of rugby union’s biggest roles.
White has expressed his interest in the position as recently as last month, stating: “If they (England) were genuinely interested and they approached me, of course I would be interested.
“It’s one of the biggest jobs in world sport and you’d be crazy not to consider it.”
Current Bath coach and England’s former defensive coach Mike Ford is second in the betting at 4/1, ahead of current Northampton boss Jim Mallinder at 7/1.
Of the breaking news, Ladbrokes’ Alex Donohue said of White: “The South African has been in pole position for some time now and Red Rose supporters are confident he’s the White man for England. Bets on Lancaster’s replacement have been flying in since the full time whistle at Twickenham so the news doesn’t come as much of a surprise.”
Notable outsiders for the role include England’s 2003 saviour Sir Clive Woodward at 14/1, Warren Gatland is 33/1 to make a huge switch across the border from Wales to England, while the Red Rose golden boy Johnny Wilkinson is 50/1 to take the job on.
