How Twitter reacted to Sam Burgess switching back to rugby league
Published:After weeks of speculation surrounding his future it’s been announced that rugby star Sam Burgess will be leaving Bath to return to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
And predictably Twitter has gone into meltdown upon hearing the news.
However, after struggling to make an impact in the hosts’ dismal campaign the rumour mill started to turn and it seems that all the talk of a switch back to League was well founded.
Here’s how Social Media reacted to Burgess’ proposed departure:
Understandably, there were a fair few who welcomed his decision and those who felt sympathy towards the 26-year-old following his recent treatment.
@SamBurgess8 good choice returning to the best sport in the world, I’ll never really understand why you left in the first place

Do not blame Sam Burgess 1 bit for going back to Rugby league – treated poorly by England management/media. Could have been superb in time — Simon Clarke (@simonc1607) November 5, 2015
And it wasn’t only fans of the 13-man code who were getting upset…

Hmm, not everyone was prepared to give Burgess a fair trial though…
So Sam Burgess has gone back to play League. What a waste of time. Luther Burrell should have had that spot in the RWC15 team.
