Guardiola’s Bayern aren’t a patch on his famous Barcelona side

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich may have played an in-form Arsenal side off the park in the Champions League last night but the manager’s Bavarian big hitters are nowhere near as good as his beautiful Barcelona side.

That is the finding of the latest poll from Ladbrokes News, which asked readers to vote on whether Pep has got the Bundesliga giants playing better football than that seen when he was the Catalan King.

Unsurprisingly the overwhelming answer was ‘No’, with a staggering 86 per cent of the voters saying Pep has taken a step backwards since leaving the Camp Nou.

Even those most mathematically challenged among you won’t need help in realising that just a paltry 14 per cent of the votes said that Bayern’s brand of football is more impressive.

We’re not sure how to decipher IP addresses but it’s a fair assumption would be that the majority of those votes hail from the Munich area.

Guardiola oversaw a hugely-successful Barcelona era, raking in a stunning 14 major trophies in just four seasons.

With the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi brushing past all in their wake many hail his Barca side as the greatest ever.

To be fair he hasn’t done too badly at Bayern, winning two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, the Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup since moving to the Allianz Arena in 2013.

Whether or not he remains in Germany long enough eclipse his Spanish haul remains to be seen but for now he is revered more highly in his homeland than he is in his current home.
