Good news keeps on rolling in for streaking Jambos

If four games won in a row, six matches unbeaten and overtaking Aberdeen as Celtic’s closest rivals in the Ladbrokes Premiership wasn’t reason enough for Hearts to be jubilant, then the latest news coming out of Tynecastle will certainly help the club’s sunny disposition.

Manager Robbie Neilson recently revealed that a number of contract talks have opened up with first-team squad members, with a deal to extend influential midfielder Arnaud Djoum’s stay the most pressing of renewals.

The former Lech Poznan man, whose arrival in the Jam Tarts first-team coincided with their current undefeated streak, has a deal that runs until January. Having settled quickly into the centre of Neilson’s midfield though, registering a goal and an assist across his last two outings, all parties are clearly keen to make things more long term.

Along with Djoum’s terms, the club are also discussing extending the deals of defender Igor Rossi and striker Osman Sow.

Both players have started all 14 Ladbrokes Premiership games for Hearts this term. Rossi has been instrumental in helping the club establish the second-best defensive record in the division, while Sow has netted five goals in the league and seven in all competitions.

A raft of Jambos are in the final year of their contract though and Neilson is keen to tie up as many deals as possible as quickly as he can.

“Everyone seems happy to be here, they’re enjoying themselves and playing regularly. So I don’t think there will be a big problem,” he told the Daily Record.

After their 2-0 win over Hamilton Academical, the fourth game in a row they’ve won to nil, Hearts are now 11/8 with the sponsors to win the league without Celtic.
