Fantasy Football: Mr Brightside on the prowl after big week

Published:

Mr Brightside, with plenty of help from the likes of Jack Butland, Philippe Coutinho and Romelu Lukaku, proved that good things come to those who wait, after he delivered a belting week in the Fantasy Football.

The Ladbrokes Life quintet enjoyed a solid showing in Gameweek 11, each of them bagging at least 50 points.

Brightside though, was the real winner as four of his team totted up double figure scores. His substitution from last week also reaped the rewards as Raheem Sterling added eight points after coming in for the injured David Silva.

He cut the gap to Generous John, who remains the leading member of the group in the Ladbrokes Life League, to 39 points.

It was a case of misplaced faith for our long-time pace-setter as he sacrificed four points and Wayne Rooney, Philippe Coutinho and Cesar Azpilicueta for Jamie Vardy, Toby Alderweireld and Alexis Sanchez.

While the on-fire Leicester forward got on the scoresheet again, our man would have been nine points better off had he left things be.

The Believer had a mixed week though, mostly due to the fact he continues to keep faith with the three Newcastle players in his side.

Only Daryl Janmaat scored more than two points for the Toon this week, and changes will surely have to be made.

A return of 51 points this week was certainly helped by the decision to bring in Vardy for Bafetimbi Gomis, who again drew a blank.

It was a steady week for the Gut Truster as well, as he delivered a bang-average (literally) 56 points. The duo of Vardy and Lukaku helped somewhat, but the score did mean he dropped into 340th position in the league they all want to win.

That reliance on strikers was none-more-visible than with the Professor’s side.

Harry Kane came in for Wayne Rooney and promptly took the captain’s armband and went about forming a partnership with Everton’s Lukaku.

The duo went on to pick up 30 of their teams 60 points, moving the Prof out of the bottom 400.

At the top end of the table in the search for that £100 Free Bet, it is a case of as you were.

Howard Clark continues to battle it out with Tarek Daioub for the lead, the former maintaining top-spot with a return of 72 points.

The pair could soon have company in the tussle with Scott Stanley’s Stans Army stealing the week with an eye-catching 98 points.

Five of his XI breached the 10-point mark this week to take the new challenger to within touching distance of the summit of the league.

Can he sustain that challenge? We will see next week.
