Have you ever left a football match early? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ then you may have noticed a Ladbrokes News voter shaking their head in disgust as you made a beeline for the exit.
In fact, a whopping 73 per cent of you have told us that it’s never OK to make a hasty escape, no matter what the situation is.
We posed the question following comments made by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after his first defeat at the Anfield helm.
Instead of staying to roar their team on, Klopp couldn’t help but notice a large section of the Reds support leaving the stadium en masse once Scott Dann had put Crystal Palace 2-1 up with around 10 minutes remaining.
This was evidently not the sort of scenario the German had envisaged when he came to the club, hence his obvious disappointment.
Even broadsheet journalists were quick to point that the Liverpool fans’ hasty exit was symbol of a cultural shift on the terraces.
The Daily Telegraph’s Chris Bascome wrote: “Klopp, suffering his first defeat since becoming Liverpool manager, glanced at his watch and anticipated a surge towards the Kop goal in search of an equaliser – the type of which have been described with such finery in all those history books. Instead, the belief was not there from the players, nor in the stands.”
However, while the belief may been sapped from the Kop, our voters are adamant you should never desert your team in their hour of need.
