#CultClashes: Tottenham and West Ham have enjoyed some belters

It might not be Tottenham’s most fierce derby, let alone London’s, but the Lilywhites’ clashes with West Ham have served up some fierce contests down the years.
The two capital clubs are set to meet again on Sunday at 16:00, and with Spurs unbeaten in 11 in the Premier League it is no surprise to see them chalked up as 8/15 jollies.
As we count down the days towards the big match, we’ve picked out five memorable matches between the sides from over the years.
West Ham 4-3 Tottenham – February 24 1997
The strike-force of Paul Kitson and John Hartson was a potent one for the Hammers in the late 90s, but in this clash they were outscored by their left-back as Julian Dicks bagged a brace.
Coming into the game it didn’t look like a home win was on the cards under the lights. Harry Redknapp’s men had lost their previous five matches before the Upton Park contest.
Rio Ferdinand was handed his debut at the back in what was a highlight in a slightly disappointing season for the east Londoners.
Tottenham 1-1 West Ham – November 20 2005
From one Ferdinand to another, with a late Anton Ferdinand header rescuing a point for the Hammers in the last minute of injury time.
The brothers had engaged in a competition between themselves with the then-Manchester United centre back just outscoring his younger sibling by three goals to two in the 2005-2006 season.
Mido had opened the scoring in the first half against his future employers, and while Teddy Sheringham went close to levelling on the hour mark, it was left to the very last minute for the visitors to achieve a share of the spoils.
West Ham 3-4 Tottenham – March 4 2007
West Ham’s great escape in the 2006-07 season may have required a little help from a certain diminutive Argentine, but after this fixture it looked to be a lost cause.
With five minutes left to play West Ham looked to have secured a famous win when Bobby Zamora added a third goal at Upton Park to supplement Mark Noble and Carlos Tevez efforts.
But a Dimitar Berbatov free-kick levelled things up, before a Paul Stalteri strike sent the visitors into raptures. With Spurs breaking quickly, it was down to Rob Green to keep out Jermain Defoe’s shot, but he couldn’t prevent the Canandian slotting home a late, late winner.
Tottenham 0-3 West Ham – October 6 2013
The high point in the story of Ravel Morrison’s time at West Ham, with many now wandering what could have been, came at White Hart Lane two years ago.
The Hammers were already 2-0 up thanks to Winston Reid and Ricardo Vaz Te goals after the break, but the real magic came with just over 10 minutes to go.
Picking the ball up in the centre circle, former Manchester United man Morrison, had one instinct and that was to run. He beat a number of defenders, before cooling slotting past Hugo Lloris to round off a quality move.
West Ham 2-3 Tottenham – February 25 2013
Over recent years it’s fair to say Tottenham fans will have seen few better players don their strip than Gareth Bale.
The Welshman showed just what he was capable of as Spurs came back from 2-1 down to beat their London rivals and move up to third in the table.
With the spoils looking like they were going to be shared, the former Southampton man picked up the ball 25 yards out.
He shuffled the ball onto his left foot, before unleashing a wonder strike to send the Hammers fans home unhappy.
