Bournemouth set sights on MLS record breaking striker

AFC Bournemouth may have recently received a cash injection from Chicago but it is a goal injection from New York that could have the fans excited in January.
Cherries manager Eddie Howe is keen to beef up his attack with Callum Wilson sidelined for the remainder of the campaign and the likes of Glenn Murray, Josh King and Yann Kermorgant struggling to fill the void.
As such Howe is set to dip into the transfer market in January and New York Red Bulls ace Bradley Wright-Phillips has emerged as a top target.
The 30-year-old is thought to have had an unremarkable career in England, with spells at Manchester City, Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton and Brentford on his CV before moving Stateside.
However, on closer inspection the forward has maintained a decent flow of goals since leaving Eastlands in 2006, hitting 25 in 121 games for the Saints, 17 in a 73-game spell with the Pilgrims, 31 in 87 appearances for the Addicks and five in 17 for the Bees.
It is in America where the younger brother of Shaun has made a real name for himself though, hitting 31 goals for the Red Bulls last year – to become the first 30+ man in an MLS season – and smashing 18 strikes from 38 appearances so far this term.
New York are still gunning for the MLS Cup, with a play-off semi-final against Columbus Crew later this month, but with the US season culminating no later than December 6 Wright-Phillips could arrive at Dean Court in January well rested and with a title win to his name.
Bournemouth are currently even-money to fall through the Premier League trap-door at the end of the season, but if Wright-Phillips arrives and brings his MLS form with him, those odds could soon disappear.
