Alan Stubbs and Jason Cummings scoop Ladbrokes October awards

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs and star striker Jason Cummings have scooped October’s Ladbrokes Championship awards after a perfect month.

Stubbs oversaw five wins last month, with Hibs counting Queen of the South, Dumbarton, Falkirk, Raith Rovers and league leaders Rangers and that incredible run has been recognised with the Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month award.

After a patchy start to the campaign, which saw the Hibees trounced 6-2 by Rangers in the Scottish League Cup Stubbs has turned his side’s fortunes around with a string of impressive displays in both defence and attack.

The reward for the hard work was clear for all to see as Hibs beat the Gers 2-1 at Easter Road to cut the Ibrox outfit’s lead at the top of the table to just five points.

Hibs are now unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions and that is testament to the entire team’s contribution but one man in particular stood out in October.

Striker Jason Cummings, still just 20-years-old, is now one of the most feared strikers in the country and his skill was clear for all to see last month as he scored in all five of his side’s wins.

The youngster has been on fire this season, also scoring against Aberdeen and Dundee United in the cup, and his impressive run in recent weeks has earned him the Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Month award.

Next up for Hibs is a potentially tricky trip to St Mirren, but given the form they are in Stubbs’ side arrive at St Mirren Park as the 3/5 favourites.

Former Hibs star Craig Paterson believes the club where he started his career have the ability to take the title race down to the wire this season and at odds of 11/2 there will be plenty of people in Edinburgh keen to back HIbs to pip Rangers to the post.
